In 1926 Solomon Spady and his wife Jessie, built their family home in the heart of the Black community of Delray Beach. There they lived until Mrs. Spady died and Mr. Spady retired and moved back to his hometown, Townsend, Virginia. As years passed, the house was home to many, some of whom still live in the area and have memories of time spent in the house. In 1997 the City of Delray Beach purchased the home and partnered with us to preserve the house and the City's Black Archives and THE HOUSE STILL STANDS.
